Most of the discussion forums require registration, but some don't. Registration, simply means entering your e-mail address and picking a password. You can learn the ropes by browsing the forum topics and posting answers to anything you like.
The main reason for posting on discussion forums is to get visitors to your blog or site. To do so, remember to always link to your blog or site on all the forums that allow links. Forums that don't allow links will not be of much help to you, so you can just forget about them, unless posting on discussion forums is a hobby of yours.
Offer honest advise and opinions that are related to the topic discussed, do not just leave your links alone as that will be considered spamming. Once you post your opinion, sign off with a link to your blog or site.
Asking for help is also a great way to get others to visit your blog or site. You can enter something like "Can I get some help please?" and in the body you can type" I am new to this. I just created a blog about travel and i would really appreciate anyone's opinion and advise of any kind to improve it or make it look better. A lot of folks just love to give opinions and advice.
Always look for threads with the most views, get in on those, or try to start a new one one the very same topic. Threads with a lot of views will bring in more visitors to your blog. I did not believe in posting or even visiting discussion forums until a friend convinced me to do it. Boy am I am glad I did, now I advise others to do it, after I saw the results.
Discussion forums is a free and effective way of marketing. Just keep it clean, post advice and opinions about the topic discussed, and do not spam. Leave a link to your blog or site, sit back and watch the visitors click on your links.
